The best romance books are those which stay with us long after the last page, filling us with fear at the prospect of failing to find another book that could possibly be as good. It’s no secret that romance novels have been around for a while, yet with the advent of computerized publishing, they’ve detonated in prominence and, luckily for us, romance is everywhere!
With new school authors, like Jamie McGuire and Christina Lauren, as well as exceptionally stable authors like Jennifer Cruise and Nora Roberts producing book after book, I guess we can say we’ve been very pleased with the increasing inventory over the past couple of years.
#1.Dark Lover by J.R. Ward (2005)
The main thoroughbred vampire in the world and the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s leader, Wrath has a beef to attend with the hunters who slaughtered his folks hundreds of years prior. In any case, when his most trusted warrior is murdered — stranding a crossbreed little girl unconscious of her legacy or her destiny — Wrath must put down his knife and usher the delightful female into a different universe.
Racked by anxiety in her body that wasn’t there some time recently, Beth Randall is vulnerable against the perilously provocative man who goes to her during the evening with shadows in his eyes. His stories of the Brotherhood and blood startle her. However his touch lights an unfolding new appetite — one that debilitates to devour them both.
#2.Dear John by Nicholas Sparks (2006)
A furious revolt, John dropped out of school and enrolled in the Army, not realizing what else to do with his life — until he meets the young lady he had always wanted, Savannah. Their common fascination rapidly develops into the sort of affection that leaves Savannah sitting tight for John to complete his voyage through obligation, and John needing to settle down with the lady who caught his heart. In any case, 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his obligation to re-enroll. Also, unfortunately, the long detachment discovers Savannah beginning to look all starry eyed at another person. “Dear John,” the letter read… and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed for eternity. Returning home, John must grasp the way that Savannah, now wedded, is as yet his intimate romance — and face the hardest choice of his life.
Authors Note: Nicholas Sparks is fantastic. His stories are very rich in character development and keep the reader’s focus at all times! He has written some of the best romance books that I’ve personally read. And now… on with the list…
